Adda@ B.D. Court

To a Bengali, the word 'adda' is synonymous with his or her culture. It is like a trait that is rooted deeply within us, genetic and hereditary. The students at Maulana Azad College, me being one of them, decided to celebrate this very concept of sitting and chatting together about anything and everything under the sun, and also the place where the students spend more than a quarter of a day, 'adda marofying'.

Adda@ BD Court happened on the 29th of February, 2012 inside the Maulana Azad College premises, specifically in the Badminton Court. It was a gala affair, comprising of various events such as Open Mic, Open Forum, Random Jamming, Scribble, etc. Bringing more than 60 people together, involving them in a session of adda may not sound like a Herculean task, but nevertheless, it was, as the concept was very unique, and in many ways, revolutionary as well. Such an event had never happened before in any other college, and so convincing people that the experiment would be a success was difficult. But in the end though, people gathered, sat, stood, smoked, drank, ate, sang, danced, yelled, enjoyed and celebrated. That's what mattered, and it mattered well enough.

The crowd, when guest band 'Road Roller' was performing

RoadRoller, a band which has an ex-student of our college as the front-man, was the main attraction. Anindya(vox) and Suvankar(percussion) mesmerized the crowd with their lovely songs, and after their performance, distributed free CDs of their Album , 'Rasta Karur Ekar Noy', among the college students.
Students who registered for this event after paying a small registration fee got unlimited cigarettes, cold drinks, tea and biriyani to offer themselves. 'Scribble' was a success as well, and so was the 'Graffiti Wall', where students wrote and chalked their hearts out, respectively.

3@7 India, a small designing company started by two of our students, Muntakem and Ramiz got a slot to promote themselves. They exhibited their creations, which received praises.
